Botswana
Botswana left a deep mark on our hearts providing us with experiences and wildlife sightings we could never have imagined beforehand.
Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa known for its vast wilderness areas, rich wildlife, and stunning landscapes. The country is famous for the Okavango Delta one of the world’s largest inland deltas which supports a diverse array of animals including elephants, lions and hippos. The capital city is Gaborone and English is the official language though Setswana is widely spoken. Botswana is renowned for its commitment to conservation with large areas of protected land including the Makgadikgadi National Park, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Chobe National Park. The country’s economy is primarily driven by diamond mining, tourism and livestock farming. Botswana has a stable political environment and is considered one of the most developed nations in Africa. Its natural beauty, wildlife and eco-friendly tourism make it a popular destination for adventure travelers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Without fully knowing what we were getting into we booked our 16-day camping safari through Botswana. In hindsight this was an excellent decision.
The journey started in Maun taking us to the Makgadikgadi National Park afterwards. We continued to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and the Deception Valley Private Reserve then on to the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Game Reserve, the Chobe National Park and finally ending at the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
We were incredibly impressed by the rich diversity of flora and fauna as well as our experiences there. Therefore we highly recommend Botswana as a travel destination and would gladly return anytime.
